Replacing a windowDo your doors or windows frost up on cold winter days? Do you feel cold drafts when the wind blows? These are signs that your doors and windows may need to be replaced with new ENERGY STAR windows and doors.

By replacing single-paned windows with double-paned ENERGY STAR windows, you can save an estimated $360 per year in heating and cooling costs in the typical Iowa home.

Qualifying doors (5 max., min. size of 8 sq. ft. each)  
  • Solid door ENERGY STAR rated (R-5 to R-10)
 $25 each
  • Solid door ENERGY STAR rated (R-11 or greater)
 $50 each
  •  Glass entry door ENERGY STAR rated (at least 50 percent glass and ≤ 0.35 U-factor)
 $25 each

Qualifying replacement windows (min. size of 8 sq. ft. each)

 
  • ENERGY STAR rated (U-Factor 0.35 or less, min. size of 8 sq. ft. each)

 $25 each


How do I qualify?

  • You must be a residential electric or natural gas customer of IPL in Iowa.
  • Replacement doors and windows must be installed in a conditioned space where IPL supplies the primary heating or cooling energy.
  • Replacement doors and windows must be:
    - Energy Star rated for the Northern climate zone;
    - Certified by the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC)
    - A minimum NFRC rating equal to 0.35 or less U-Factor or R-5 or greater
  • One opening = one window.

How do I apply?

  • Professionally installed equipment and measures: Have your dealer send a completed reward form and invoice to IPL within 90 days of
    installation.
  • Self-installed equipment and measures: Complete the appropriate reward form, attach the UPC code, and a copy of the itemized, dated receipt and send to IPL within 90 days of installation.
