Appliance Rewards

For Alliant Energy's residential customers in Iowa

Mother and child doing laundryWhen buying an appliance, remember that it has two price tags: what you pay to take it home and what you pay for the energy and water it uses.

ENERGY STAR® qualified appliances incorporate advanced technologies that use 10–50 percent less energy and water than standard models. The money you save on your utility bills can more than make up for the cost of a more expensive but more efficient ENERGY STAR model. Plus, IPL will give you cash back on your qualifying ENERGY STAR appliance purchase.

Eligible equipment and reward amounts:

Clothes washers

Through superior design and features, ENERGY STAR qualified clothes washers clean clothes using 40 percent less energy (through hot water savings and shortened clothes-drying times) than standard washers. And most full-sized ENERGY STAR washers use 18-25 gallons of water per load, compared to 40 gallons used by a standard machine. They also extract more water from clothes during the spin cycle, which reduces drying time and heating energy. ENERGY STAR qualified clothes washers are available in both top-loading and frontloading designs.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Alliant Energy must provide the main source of energy for either the water heater or the clothes dryer in order to qualify for the clothes washer cash reward. Since water heaters and clothes dryers can be powered by electricity or natural gas, you must determine the fuel type and the fuel source of the water heater and the dryer. The energy/fuel can come from Alliant Energy, from another utility or a mix. If it is a mix, customers may apply to both utilities for a cash reward.  If Alliant Energy provides both the water heater and the dryer energy/fuel, the cash reward is capped at $100.

Fill out the cash reward form completely, or your form could be returned unpaid.  There is a section to indicate if Alliant Energy provides either the water heater or dryer fuel source.
